“To provide educational and enjoyable outdoor recreation”
Hi, my name is Andy Meehan. I’d like to share with you why I created this company. When I was 6 years old, my grandfather taught me how to fly fish with dry flies a bamboo rod and an automatic reel. Granddad had a cabin in Meeker Park Colorado. Every summer our family traveled from Philadelphia to the cabin for a three week vacation. Thru the property flowed a small brushy creek named Cabin Creek. Sometimes while hiking into an area today on the Grand Mesa I get a whiff of those childhood smells of wet grass, willows and pine trees…great memories! I fished with Granddad for 10 summers and eventually graduated to the waters of the Big Thompson. At age 16 we stopped going to Colorado but I continued to fish dry flies back east. I returned to Colorado at age 35. Making a bee line to the Big Thompson on that September day I tied on an Adams but couldn’t buy a fish. Frustrated and confused I went to the Estes Angler fly shop where I learned that dries were out and nymphs were in. Since I didn’t know what a nymph was or how to fish one I hired a guide/teacher for a half day. From that guide I learned to drift a nymph, use an indicator and catch fish. How exciting, there was more to fishing than dry flies. From this time on I began a self-education journey of fly fishing. I sought out friends who knew more about fishing than me. I ate up knowledge in tying, entomology, rod building, presentation techniques, reading water, how to fish lakes and big rivers and the list goes on. Information tied to practice has helped me transition from luck to success. Now at age 57 I wish my journey hadn’t taken so long. I wouldn’t wish this strung out process on anyone. Out of my frustration of information gathering I have designed fishing courses that are simple to understand and information that is easy to retain. My goal is to have the best outdoor recreation classes in the West, NO, in the United States, NO, in the World.
I truly believe God has inspired me with ideas and lead me to a network of people who wear generosity for clothing. I want to thank these special people : Kathy Meehan, Mary Meehan, Lyman Thomas(granddad) Cathie and Bob Barner, Del Canty, Mike Smith, Bill Dickes, Ed Kehoe, Dave and Marilyn Pipkin, Ben Olson, Kurt Kzalazney, Dave Torkelson, Greg Stratman, Bill Carlson, Pete Barnes, Tex Keeney, Mary Caterino, Polly Caddy, Bob Marshall and Jeff Hatton.
